Am done with wheat letters at long last. Am going to be out of contact until Monday nite.
I spent most of yesterday knowing that Friday was 2 days away, but thinking that it was today. Even this morning I did so. But after I got to < 24 hrs to go, it got easier to think that it's still a day away.

Am mostly done with wheat letters. Think I'll have them done before noon Fri. Will definitely be done by 1800 Fri.

Can now say that I can burn 44 CDs in 3 hrs. Can't do a whole lot of research while I'm doing it, but it can be done.

Starting with this entry, am doing the entire blog in CSS. We'll see what it can do.

Wednesday, March 24, 2004

Just realized that CSS doesn't have much to offer this blog like I thought . Most of the indenting is done for the tables.

In other news, am done with most of the form wheat letters. Have yet to get to the personalized ones, though. But I do have more paper, 'cuz there's lots of people on this one(w00tness!)

Rave

Am cracking up reading about GPF's Geek Wars. Is a parody of several movies. Predominant element is Star Wars, but they've also got elements from Star Trek, computers(Line in/out, usb, serial), the golden arches, NASA, the American flag, etc. Starts on Feb 22, and continues through where I've read. Am on March 2 now. Cracks me up.
Just got done writing 17 out of 20 candidate letters. 18 & 19 are going to take some customization. 20 is going to take a LOT of customization; he's my brother. I'll be able to include some of the same info, but I'm going to be doing a lot differently. Oh well. It's 2 am and I'm tired. I'll do it tomorrow.

Am still looking for a website host. Requirements are same, but found a new site: DMoz. Open source-type directory project. Have found a couple of candidates that prove better than the old site I was using.

Sunday, March 21, 2004

Just got done with my recruiting trip at home. Got 2 out of approximately 15 youth. Not too bad, but could be better. Oh well. Brings total up to 20 now. Decently sized TEC. Wish we could do more.
Just finished writing 12 out of 13 wheat letters. 13 is going to take some customization. Am tired. Have Mass in 6 hours, during which time need to get to sleep(not too much time), and get up, shower & get dressed, eat(not in that order). Am off to do so.

Saturday, March 20, 2004

Have begun to doze off. Because of this, have stopped writing letters after writing 7 in one sitting. Will resume tomorrow night, but not for as long, as I have Mass on Sun morn. Sun nite I'll have an updated list.

Friday, March 19, 2004

Stargate spoilers; hilite to read. Star by Star & Vector Prime spoilers also included. They put O'Neil on hold. I wonder who they'll get to replace him. Whoever they get, I don't think that (s)he'll be as strong. I think that they did that for the same reason that they killed off Janet: to get more viewers. Same thing for killing Anakin & Chewie. That's good for the networks, but leaves us viewers in the ditch.

Have also simultaneously begun work on wheat letters. Hope to get lots done.
Just got out of PC Troubleshooting class. We're taking the PC apart & putting it back together. Am having fun with that class.
Have finished writing THE wheat letter. Now to write the wheat letters plural. After that comes the Wheat Crew wheat letters. Then the Resource wheat letters. Will I ever get finished? Will I ever start on time?

2 raves & an entry

Started reading the chapter on CSS today! It's gonna be so easy to do so now. Am still on straight HTML, though. Don't know enough about CSS yet.

In other news, I got a free lunch today by taking my grandmother to her(and my) doctor that we both had appts for today. Pretty good sized meal, too. Am pleased with self.

Had a healing Mass tonight. Standard Mass, except for the blessing after the homily. But we were there for extra time, so Nichole let us out early. And UNO's closed for spring break, so the lab there is closed. Guess this means I get more time to write those wheat letters. Get more done.
Am having a hard time coming up with a website host. Must offer at least 50 MB of disk space, unlimited bandwidth, no forced ads, SSI, PHP, Java, and FTP access, and be free. Seems like those requirements are mutually exclusive. Am willing to compromise first on Java & PHP, but not on disk space & cost. After that comes SSI & FTP. Last comes ads. Oh well, will continue search.

I remember now why I absolutely loathe the OSI model. The differences between the layers are so similar that it's hard to classify something. Then you have IPX/SPX, NetBEUI, and AppleTalk. Remembering where all of those things go is next to impossible. Possible, but just barely.

Rant

Looks like Java will be my hardest class this quarter. HTML 2 & PC Troubleshooting are both taught by people who know what they're doing like the back of their hand, but Java is taught by someone who, while he knows what he's doing, doesn't know it like the back of his hand. I also don't like the book. It teaches me as if I don't know anything about computers(I am in a computer class, after all!) and the figures(i.e.Figure 1-1) take up a whole page, even if it only needs a quarter page. It will also use a figure for anything other than straight text. Just use a monospace font and block quote it or something.

Where did we get that expression? "back of their hand".

Why do we have snow again? We already had 2 very warm days, getting into the 60ish range. It should be illegal to have snow when it's this close to spring.
Just got back from a filled weekend. No time to blog, sorry. We(group I was with and me) did a service helped out at one of the member's homes, then headed out to Pro Sanctity's Elkhorn retreat house, and helped out there. Then we re-evaluated Choices, what to do with it(one idea was to rename it), how to get more candidates, etc. What we decided to do was to target it at an older crowd, 'cuz college age kids have enough on our plates already. Another thing we decided to do was to redo the fliers for them. Time now: Saturday evening. Dancing taught by a girl who's very good at it. Sing along. Bedtime. Sunday morning, we went to Mass at St. Patrick in Fremont, 'cuz Fr. Cook came to Elkhorn the night before. He told us that since Friday is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the Church isn't allowed to enforce an abstinence(sp) from meat this Friday in Lent. Was news to most of us. Went to see The Passion again. Dashed from there to a TEC meeting. That takes me up to Sun nite. This morning, I read a lot of homework. Don't expect to be this innundated this quarter.

Rant

Am still up. Don't know why am still up. Have a class at 8 tomorrow(this) morning. Should be in bed getting 7 hrs of sleep minimum. Oh well. Will do best to rectify situation.

Thursday, March 11, 2004

Just found out that the Choices retreat this weekend got canceled. Am bummed. Oh well, this means I'll probably be able to blog, do other stuff I wouldn't ordinarily have done. Don't know what this weekend will offer yet, but I will record what happens as it goes along, if possible.
Am feeling lonely. Don't know how long it'll last, but have a weird feeling about what brought it on: Urban Dictionary's definition of 69. Yeah, that doesn't normally make one feel lonely, nor would I have guessed that it'd make me lonely, but that's when it started. I don't have anyone to call my own. Have decided to become more "aggressive" in my prayers for someone. More specifically, a female someone.

3 Raves & a rant

Is(was) a beautiful day today. Shortsleeve shirt is enough. w00t!

My car is no longer a 2-tone car(I got a car wash). Still will need a little work in the nooks & crannies, but for the most part, it's red again. Will post a pic when I get home.

Holly's car was in the shop for brakes and she had to ask me for a ride to work. Was able to provide.

They reset all the passwords in the comp lab at Fort. Now nobody can get on without asking how. Why'd college do that? You change something and you screw people over. They also got new machines there. Now they're flatscreens. They've also got 750 MB zip drives. I've got a 100 MB zip disk, 'cuz our drive at home is only a 100 MB. 750 MB drives can't write to 100 MB disks. Stupid Iomega. Why'd college do that? You change something and you're gonna screw people over. At least they didn't "upgrade" the machines in the classrooms. I hope.

Rant: BCaT is getting boring

I wish there were a place for BCaT games, other than Miscellaneous. IMO, Kaelis keeps the place too tight. There isn't any fun to posting there. I mean, I understand why he does it, but it kills the fun for the rest of us. No threads can pass his scrutiny other than official ones discussing books, comics, or television, official ones discussing various EU-related news, and already-established game threads. I've noticed that I'm posting there less and less. It's getting boring.

Attended the TEC meeting. It went well, zoomed from there to church, where they were in between Masses. Not really surprising. Masses were at 1:30 & 4, rather than 4:30. Oh well, I'm not at the top of the food chain, so I'm not responsible for things like that. Went from there home, to have dinner, do some dishes, change & go to Choices planning meeting. Listened to 2 practice talks.

This blog is becoming a recitation of my day. I don't like that. Will have to find something to rant/rave about. Until then, see ya.

Saturday, March 06, 2004

Just got a call from TEC. They want me to do March. Am excited, but calmly so. Kicker, though, is that the first meeting is tomorrow. At 1. When I have to sing for Confirmation. I might let the rest of the choir sing for the 1:30 Mass and just do the 4:30 one. Or I might skip the first planning meeting. Don't know which I'll do, yet. Will later, though. Also doesn't help that the confirmandi that I'm praying for is getting confirmed at the 1:30 Mass.

Friday, March 05, 2004

Am off to see The Passion. Am excited. My family saw it last Sat; now I get to see it. Fortunately they couldn't spoil it too much. Between well-known rumors(in Aramic(sp) and Latin), and the Bible, I know what's going to happen fairly well. I think. We shall see.

Bye now.
Overslept helping mom get her chairs. Oh well, she was expecting to do so herself anyway. I just wanted to overachieve. Have breathing/grounding excercises in < 15 mins. Should get to those.

We're going to see The Passion tonite! Oh boy! Should be me and about 7-9 others from CCM after which we're going out to talk about it. Will post my review here afterward.
Am writing my own mini-mod tool. Am having fun doing so, but it does get kind of repetitive. I am doing it since I want to reorder some of the stuff, but also to give myself something to do.

Have to help mom with load chairs from Scott's woods shop into her car tomorrow. That's anytime from 9:10-10:00. Shouldn't be too bad. After that, comes breathing and grounding excercises. That's a whole bunch of fun. </sarcasm>

Thursday, March 04, 2004

Just got back from the dentist. Lower right jaw is numb(annoyance). Can't eat anything until numbness wears off(more annoyance).

Am currently working on learning what is(coincidentally) Doug's piano recital piece(Autumn in Vermont). Not very good at it yet, but am improving. OK, maybe not entirely coincidence. Sat down one day and played what was on top. Doug must have been working on recital piece just before.
Just found out that there's another batch of avatars, the podracers. I really gotta get crackin' and get databank & CUSWE links for the pilot batch. EU, Saga, CW, Pilot, and now podracers. Makes me wonder what's up next.

Have a dentist appt tomorrow morn at 10. I gotta get to bed so I can get some sleep! Bye all.

Wednesday, March 03, 2004

Grandma had me do several things, like install a water filter for the faucet that needed a part that we don't have & wasn't included in the package. 7-10 business days. She also had me remove a string of X-mas lights from a fern and was going to have me take down a set of lights from her solarium that wasn't working & replace them. I went to count how many there were, and first bulb I checked, guess what? It wasn't there. Put a bulb there from the string I was going to replace them with and it worked! I'm minorly pleased with myself.

Tuesday, March 02, 2004

Just got back from hockey game. We lost, 3-5. But since it was the last home game, people wanted to buy lots of stuff for home team. Including raffle tickets. I ran out of tickets(yay!) and had to borrow some. Others sold similarly. We probably sold 800 tickets, according to prevailing estimate. 15% of that means that we got 120 bucks, plus $25 bonus for selling +750. Am looking forward to 1.5 hrs of 'net time.
Doug doesn't have his classes for next quarter picked out, so I'm urging him on to get them picked out. Problem is, he's only short on science credits, and college cancels courses that don't have a sufficient number of students in them. Classes begin March 10, so payment is due a couple of weeks ago. That's when college starts canceling courses. Bet he's having fun.

Am looking forward to tonight's hockey game, where I'll be selling tickets to a raffle. We get part of the proceeds, which is why we're doing it.

Monday, March 01, 2004

Am bored. Just got done reviewing the final project web sites for my html class last quarter. Some were good, some weren't. One thing we had to do is link to an example of a poor website. The worst external site.
I have just become aware of a hole in my life. I don't have much going on. It's online a lot. Probably connected with the fact that I've just started chatting on the boards recently. Not gonna see if that's the case first, though. Gonna try and get home earlier. See if that fixes it.
